The White Ribbon Alliance

• The White Ribbon Alliance is an international coalition of safe motherhood organisations and individuals. It is active from grassroots to government level to save the lives of pregnant women and newborn babies around the world.

•Members of the coalition include governments, UN agencies, hundreds of international and national organisations, and many individuals around the world.
•The WRA aims to ensure the missing voices of young women, mothers, families and communities everywhere, who do not have access to good and appropriate healthcare are heard.
•The WRA has members in 111 countries and National alliances established in 13.

•The Duchess of York has come on board to help launch the ‘Million Mums’ campaign, which is a campaign which aims to raise funds, and engage the support of mums, dads and other supporters to help fight against maternal mortality.
•The Duchess will be travelling out to Nepal and Uganda to see how the WRA work is helping there. The Duchess has also produced charity pins to help launch the Million Mums campaign. She was seen launching this on GMTV with Davina McCall on Mothers Day UK. The Duchess will also help to launch the Campaign in the US.
